David M. Rickert
A business and construction litigator with 30 years of experience, Dave is familiar with the challenges a business owner faces in resolving disputes. He has represented clients with business problems including trade secret litigation, litigation concerning non-compete agreements, software development and implementation, shareholder disputes, theft of corporate opportunities, copyright infringement and professional negligence. In the construction field, he has represented design professionals, and general- and sub-contractors in disputes stemming from residential, commercial and industrial construction projects, including all major engineering disciplines. In both the business and construction fields, he has represented both plaintiffs and defendants.
To ease the investment in time and expense incurred in resolving disputes, Dave has resolved numerous disputes by mediation and arbitration in an effort to limit the cost of representation.
Dave not only assists clients in resolving business disputes, but he also regularly counsels clients as to measures they can take to avoid litigation by addressing risk management issues including reviewing business contracts, forms, and practices to limit potential liability.
Dave received his undergraduate degree from Northern Illinois University, graduating summa cum laude in 1975, and graduated from the University of Chicago Law School in 1978. Dave has also trained as a mediator at Northwestern University’s School of Professional Studies. He holds the highest rating in competence and ethics from the national attorney rating service, based on peer review. He has served on the board of the Dayton Bar Association and is a member of the Fee Dispute Arbitration Committee of that association. He has served as a board member and was past board chair of AIDS Resource Center Ohio. David is a licensed pilot and is fluent in American Sign Language. In 2015, Dave was also recognized as an Ohio Super Lawyer.
