William H. Barney, III
As a director with Auman, Mahan & Furry, Bill concentrates his practice on workers’ compensation and business litigation for a number of clients including area hospitals, manufacturing facilities, utilities and service companies. He has also presented seminars on workers’ compensation topics to SWOSIA (Southwestern Ohio Self-Insurers Association), the Ohio State Bar Association, the Dayton Bar Association and private organizations.
Bill is a former prosecutor for Vandalia, Ohio. In this capacity, he gained extensive experience handling jury trials and administrative hearings.
Following his tenure as a city prosecutor, Bill entered private practice in 1983. Before joining Auman, Mahan & Furry, he gained a thorough knowledge of the workers’ compensation system and valuable insights into opposition strategies while working at a noted claimants’ law firm. Since 1992, he has exclusively defended employers in workers’ compensation matters.
Bill is a member of the Ohio State and Dayton Bar Associations. He is past chairman of the Workers’ Compensation Committee of the Dayton Bar Association. He frequently speaks to management oriented organizations on the topic of workers’ compensation.
He received his undergraduate degree from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut and his law degree from the University of Dayton School of Law.
