Since 1971, Charles “Skip” Mahan has been representing clients in a broad range of business matters, drawing on his engineering education, military background, and legal training to develop expertise in government contracts, construction claim disputes, real estate, wealth transfer and estate planning.

As legal counselor to many small and emerging business ventures, Skip uncovers practical solutions to seemingly complex legal problems and provides insight into the economics of business ownership and the dynamics of wealth transfer.

For twelve years Skip served on the Board of Trustees of a large Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) and attended the national convention of Leading Age, an organization of not-for-profit Elder Care communities.  He is very familiar with the issues and challenges faced by our aging population.  As a Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law certified by the Ohio State Bar Association, he brings that wealth of knowledge and expertise to the formulation of estate and wealth transfer plans for many of the firm’s clients.  Through that experience, he is able to address the concerns of the clients and bring additional planning team members to the table to meet the clients’ needs.

Skip formerly served with the Judge Advocate General's Office, United States Air Force and United States Air Force Reserve. There, he lectured on contract law topics at the Air Force Institute of Technology, Air University and the Columbus Bar Association. Skip also has lectured for The Ohio State University on several topics pertaining to Government Contracts and the Federal Acquisition Regulation.

A member of the American, Ohio State, Greene County, and Dayton Bar Associations, Skip serves on the Probate, Real Property, and Public Contract Law Committees of each. He is a past Chairman of the Ohio State Bar Association Committee on Construction and Government Contracts. He also is a member of the American Bar Association's Forum Committee on Construction Law.

Skip received his undergraduate degree in engineering from the University of Illinois and his law degree from The Ohio State University College of Law.
