Joe graduated from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville in 1974 and moved with his wife and son to Dayton, Ohio.  Before deciding to pursue a career in law, Joe was an educator, holding a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and a master’s degree from Ball State University.  He taught high school public speaking and radio broadcasting for three years.

Upon being admitted to the Ohio State Bar, Joe became a Montgomery County Public Defender; followed by a position as a City of Dayton Prosecutor.  Thereafter, he became a part-time City of Vandalia Prosecutor and began his private law practice which he maintained since 1976.

Beginning in 1979 and for the next thirty-two (32) years, Joe was employed part time as the City of Tipp City Law Director.  Joe currently is and has been the City of Union, Ohio Law Director (also a part time position) for approximately forty years.  During this same period, Joe had been an instructor of real estate law at the Dayton Area Board of Realtors and currently participates in the Board of Realtors Continuing Education Program.

Joe is a Member of the Ohio State Bar Association and the Dayton Bar Association.  He served on the Dayton Bar Association Grievance Committee for a ten (10) year period and recently has become a member of that Committee again.

Joe has litigated or has been involved in litigation  concerning  various  types of cases.  That experience includes matters from eviction cases to First Amendment Sign Code issues.   He has also been involved in a variety of real estate transactions as a result of not only private practice but in his role as Law Director for the Cities of Tipp City and Union.  These include zoning, land development, and Annexations.  Joe’s practice has also included representing clients in business formation and negotiations and providing services regarding Wills, Deeds, Contracts, and Probate matters.

Joe’s approach to the practice of law has been and continues to be to provide excellent representation for his clients in a thorough, efficient and cost-effective manner.
